Hey Clam,
It's not a bad little pitch, there are a few little cracks that will start to open up towards the end of day 3 which is really going to suit the the more accurate bowlers (not to mention what Warney will do on it). IT's the kind of pitch that will really favour the team batting first, but regardless of that, the English bowlers haven't bowled very well. I believe this pitch will reward good accurate bowling. It's quick and bouncy although there isn't heaps of sideways movement.
The thing is, I don't think I've ever seen the Australian team this confident or determined. They really want to win this. Real bad. It will take something amazing from England to retain the ashes.
Cheers

by Neo inthe official watchtower 2006 service year report is not out yet, but i have it on good sources that this year's increase on publishers number is 1.9%.

I believe the only real indicator of watchtower growth is the number of newly baptised each year. Each year the number of newly baptised "should" increase by about 1.5% (approx world growth) over the previous year.
It would be nice to see a graph of percentage increase in baptismal numbers per year as this would give a nice representation of how the watchtower really is going.
Another great graph would be world_population_increase/newly_baptised per year... I believe this would give the best indicator of watchtower growth vs world growth.
Has anybody been able to generate such graphs? I'd love to do it myself but don't have all the data i need to do it at the moment. Would be nice if someone has all the stats in a form (csv perhaps?) i can load into a database and run some reports and generate some graphs against it.
Cheers

After seeing Harmison's shocker of a first ball I had the feeling that this series may not be much of a contest.
By the end of the day that feeling was proved right.
Let's just hope the poms have something better to offer tomorrow...(Although they probably won't :P)

What's the best Martial Art to take up??
by dorayakii in.
i'm thinkinf of taking up kendo...... but lots of people have been advising karate, taekwondo, jujitsu, judo and aikido to me.... does anyone on this board do any of the oriental martial arts?
any suggestions on the benefits and disadvantages of the martial arts?

The 3 most effective martial arts i've seen are BJJ, Thai Boxing and Wing Chun Kung Fu. The biggest obstacle to the practicality of thai boxing is it's tough demands on the body and the need for alot of conditioning work. BJJ has won alot of fans in the last few years mostly because of it's success in MMA(Mixed Martial Arts) tournaments. BJJ is awesome especially if it's one on one... but it's techniques are grapple oriented and not as effective against multiple attackers. Wing Chun (also spelt Ving Tsun) is a very well rounded martial art that focuses on maxamising the amount of force generated from your body movements and redirecting and harnessing incoming force and using it against the attacker or attackers and not relying on the use of brute force. It's not very pretty or fancy (unlike other forms of kung fu) but it is extremely effective. Cheers DK

I think that was a world first in the oz vs croatia game: A player getting 3 yellow cards! Seriously, Australia should've won that game 4-1. WATCH OUT ITALY, YOU'RE NEXT!!
